Anita no-blogger . . . . .

I got a delightful package in the mail from Anita no-blogger.

Anita has been my roommate at all the Quilters of South Carolina (QSC) fall retreats as well as some of the spring meetings for the last 6 years.  She was President for 4 of those years so we stayed in the "Presidential Suite".  That means we had a first floor room in the motel-style accommodations!  She is the one that dragged invited me to join the QSC board 7 years ago.

She was also the designer of this .........  the Monkey Business bra for the QSC Artful Bra Project.

Anyway, back to the package.  Each summer since they were married, Anita and her husband travel to the beautiful state of Maine in search of just one more quilt shop and the world's best hotdog stand.  She assures me that they have tried just about every hotdog stand in the state.
And all the quilt shops at least 3 times.

Knowing my affinity for all things Christmas, Anita sent this lovely gift from her visit . . . . .

A beachy Christmas card and 4 Christmas fat quarters.  Isn't it adorable?  There weren't any markings on the selvages. Does anyone know who designed this?

I can see this paired with an olive green and turkey red. Maybe made into a Schnibble!

Regardless of what I do with it, she couldn't have sent a nicer gift!  I am so glad that she was thinking of me.  What a great friend!  Thanks, Anita !!

Since I missed the deadline . . . . .

I missed the Charming Girls deadline since I was on vacation.  I've decided to make my own and reward myself if I get the goals complete.  Pretty sure of winning that drawing, aren't I? LOL

I have until August 31st to finish the following.  Since I really want to win (haha), I'll make it short and sweet.  Not to mention there is that remodeling thing still going on.  All that is on my primitives blog.

#1 - finish quilting Between Friends - I'm so close already........

#2 - quilt the Schnibbles - State Fair from last month .....already basted!

#3 - sew the last row of my Thoughts of Christmas ..... was supposed to be finished in May.....oops.  This is row 8 from April.

That's about all I can handle for the next month.  The remodeling is kicking our butt.  I also have my first vendor show at the end of August so IF I ever get my stove back, I will have to dye a lot more wool really soon!

In the finished column finally . . . . .

I have posted about this quilt it seems like a dozen times.  First to finish the top for a Charming Girls Club deadline.  And again to have it quilted for another month's deadline.  Actually I have had the quilting deadline listed for several months!

It was a gift to my mother for her birthday (which was the end of March).  I finished up the binding, washed and dried it the first part of vacation last week.  And I finally gave it to her when I visited her on the second half of my vacation.

Finally . . . . .Hidden Stars is in the finished column!!

Ooohhhh, Mary's gonna be mad at me . . . . .

We are back from vacation.  No pictures to show except one.  We went to visit Dear MIL and Dear Mother.
My mother lives near Nags Head. We went home through Raleigh, a 6 - 7 hour drive.  The only stop we made was in Apex to see The Rusty Bucket.  What a cute downtown!

On the way in to town is this. . . . .

Plain and Simple Quilt Shop.  The same Plain and Simple Quilt Shop that Mary has been dying to take me to for over a year.  The same quilt shop that Mary has been blogging and bragging about that has the most wonderful selection of Jo Morton fabrics and folk art things and wool and patterns and books. And I went without her.  So sorry, Mary.  I went with Dear Hubby.  Although he is accommodating, I could have spent another hour in there.  I am sure there is a lot I didn't see that you can show me!

My ladder quilts . . . . .

Several years ago, my father let me have this old ladder.  He knew I would find something to do with it.

I talked Dear Hubby into mounting it on the wall to the left of the fireplace.  It's a great place to hang some of my quilts.  He screwed some scrap 1x4s (painted the wall color) onto the back of the ladder.  Then screwed the ladder to the wall through the 1x4s.

With the downstairs remodel, this ladder will be coming off the wall so a large bookcase can take over.  But I think I have found a perfect new spot for it.  I just have to wait until it is up to show you.  You know, in case I'm wrong or something and it doesn't work out!
